Supreme Court spares murder convict, downgrades charge after 14 years in jail.
The Supreme Court held that the appellant acted with the knowledge that his actions could cause death, but without the specific intention to kill. Consequently, his conviction was altered from Murder (S.302 IPC) to Culpable Homicide not amounting to Murder (S.304 Part I IPC). The 14-year sentence already undergone was deemed sufficient.
