The Supreme Court held that rent receipts produced by the landlord constitute prima facie evidence of a landlord-tenant relationship under Section 43 of the Karnataka Rent Act, 1999. The High Court erred in demanding proof of title and lineage, which is beyond the scope of eviction proceedings.
