📌 Khem Singh (D) Through LRS v. State of Uttaranchal (Now State of Uttarakhand) & Another Etc, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court ruled that a victim’s legal heirs can continue prosecuting an appeal against acquittal under Section 372 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (CrPC) if the victim dies during its pendency, ensuring the right to appeal is not rendered redundant.
📌 Tahir V. Isani v. Madan Waman Chodankar, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court held that clarified that the bar under Order XXI Rule 102 Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (CPC) does not apply to transferees from third parties (not the judgment-debtor), allowing them to object to decree execution under Rules 97-101 CPC.
📌 Iqbal Ahmed (Dead) By LRS. & Anr. v. Abdul Shukoor, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court ruled that additional evidence cannot be introduced at the appellate stage under Order XLI Rule 27 Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (CPC) if inconsistent with pleadings, setting aside Karnataka High Court order that admitted such evidence without examining pleadings.
📌 X v. Y, 2025 Delhi HC
The Delhi High Court distinguished between ‘never married’ and ‘unmarried’ status, emphasizing that material facts about marital history must be disclosed for informed matrimonial consent.

Section 152 of the BNS and questions the constitutional validity of the provision.
📌 Dogiparthi Venkata Satish And Anr. V. Pilla Durga Prasad & Ors, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court held that Order XXX Rule 10 CPC permits a suit against a proprietorship in its trade name, but this does not bar suing the proprietor personally—since a proprietorship has no separate legal identity, both are the same.
📌 Chowdamma (D) by LR and Another v. Venkatappa (D) by LRs and Another, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court held that in civil cases, a party’s refusal to testify on facts within their personal knowledge can lead to serious evidentiary consequences, while hearing a property dispute involving claims based on the validity of a prior marriage.
📌 Jugraj Singh v. State of Punjab, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court established a significant precedent by observing that mere non-discovery of incriminating material is not an indicator of non-cooperation on the part of the accused, while laying down specific conditions for investigation cooperation and witness protection.
📌 Glencore International AG v. M/s. Shree Ganesh Metals and another, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court has held that an arbitration agreement need not be signed to be enforceable if the parties otherwise demonstrate mutual consent—via written conduct such as emails—setting aside the Delhi High Court’s refusal to refer the dispute to arbitration solely because one party did not sign the arbitration agreement.
📌 Ravindra Pratap Shahi v. State Of U.P, 2025 SC
Each High Court’s Registrar General must report delayed judgments to the Chief Justice monthly. If a judgment isn’t delivered within three months, the Chief Justice must ensure it’s pronounced within two weeks or assign it to another Bench.
📌 Sunil Dubey v. Minakshi, 2025 Allahabad HC
The Allahabad High Court held that Registration certificate is only evidence to prove the marriage and absence of registration of marriage will not invalidate the marriage in view of sub-Section 5 of Section 8 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
📌 M/s Cochin International Airport Ltd. v. State Information Commission and Ors, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court stayed a Kerala High Court ruling that declared Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) a ‘public authority’ under the RTI Act. The Court will hear the matter in January 2026 after granting leave to appeal.
