📌 M/S. Airen and Associates v. M/S. Sanmar Engineering Services Limited, 2025 SC
Supreme Court observed that “acknowledgment of partial debt would not extend the limitation period for the entire debt under Section 18 of the Limitation Act, 1963” while upholding the Chhattisgarh High Court’s decision in a debt recovery case.
📌 BGM AND M-RPL-JMCT (Jv) v. Eastern Coalfields Limited, 2025 SC
Supreme Court held that a clause stating arbitration “may be sought” is merely permissive and does not constitute a binding arbitration agreement.
📌 Satauram Mandavi v. The State of Chhattisgarh, 2025 SC
Supreme Court held that the amended Section 6 of the POCSO Act cannot be applied retrospectively and modified the sentence to life imprisonment under the unamended provision.
📌 X v. State of West Bengal, 2025 Calcutta HC
The Court has held that mere harassment and abuse at the workplace would not attract the offence of outraging the modesty of a woman under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code,1860 (IPC). / Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
📌 Amit Rama Zende v. State of Maharashtra, 2025 Bombay HC
The Court held that an agreement to cohabit and bear a child in exchange for consideration amounts to surrogacy, which is against public policy and not a valid defense to quash a rape FIR.
📌 Chirag Sen and Another v. State of Karnataka and Another, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court has quashed criminal proceedings against Olympian badminton players for alleged age fraud, holding that continuation of such proceedings would amount to abuse of process when competent authorities had already examined and closed the matter.
📌 Messrs Law Publishers & Another v. Sri Virender Sagar & 3 Others, 2025 Allahabad HC
Allahabad High Court has held that a claim for interim relief under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 cannot be granted when approached after an unreasonable delay of 27 years without justifiable explanation.
📌 Manohar and Others v. State of Maharashtra, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court has held that when determining compensation for compulsorily acquired land, courts must consider the highest bona fide sale transaction among available exemplars rather than averaging different sale prices.
📌 Satinder Kumar Antil v. Central Bureau of Investigation, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court held that summons under Section 35 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) cannot be served through electronic means like WhatsApp, as such service is not expressly permitted and may infringe upon the personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution.
📌 Umri Pooph Pratappur (Upp) Tollways Pvt. Ltd. v. M.P. Road Development Corporation, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court held that the right to safe, well-maintained, and motorable roads is an essential facet of the right to life under Article 21, and the State cannot abdicate its responsibility by outsourcing road development and maintenance to private entities.
📌 Federation of Leprosy Organization (FOLO) and Another v. Union of India, 2025 SC
The Supreme Court urged the Union of India and States/Union Territories to take urgent remedial action against discriminatory laws targeting leprosy-affected or cured persons.

The Rajasthan High Court held that denial of permission to travel abroad for religious purposes due to a pending 498A of Indian Penal Code,1860(IPC) case violates Article 21 Constitution of India,1950 (COI); courts must pass clear orders to guide Passport Authorities.
