Purushottam Reddy Vs Union of India and Ors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Title :- Supreme Court Upholds Exclusion of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from Delimitation Citing Article 170(3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court dismissed writ petitions challenging the exclusion of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from the delimitation exercise, upholding that Article 170(3) constitutionally bars seat readjustment in States until after the 2026 census. The Court ruled that Article 170 does not apply to Union Territories like Jammu &amp; Kashmir, which are governed by distinct constitutional provisions. It held that no parity can be drawn between the two States and J&amp;K regarding delimitation. The Court also rejected the claim of \u201clegitimate expectation\u201d for early delimitation, citing overriding constitutional constraints.
